25 things that you might not know about me : GLIN 1st year anniversary

25 things that you might not know about me : GLIN 1st year anniversary

HI Glinies,   Times flies when you are having fun-they say. Guess what happened last month? Glin was officially launched a year ago in March. In the last weeks happenings I got lost in time of having fun and doing my passion. So now, when I realized that we should celebrate this passed year with GLIN and you, I decided to share a little bit more about me. Me, the person behind GLIN. So now here are 25 things that you have not known about me : 1. When I was a child , I loved to ride with my BMX through the forests in North-East Hungary where I grew up. I have scarves on my knees and elbows that reminds me of the fact that taking risks can be painful but also leads to great accomplishments, like biking up to great hills or almost flying through bumbie roads. 2. I am left handed, which means a lot of frustrations when it comes to using scissors, tools, etc. Also I started to write in a mirrored way due to my left-handedness. I thought, when I was 6 , that I need to mirror everything that others write with right hands because I use my left one. Smart girl, I was. 3. I am an introverted person. I love to be alone, having the peace of nature around me, dreaming about new things. Actually I am called a dreamer. 4. I have always wanted to travel, even when I was little. Guess what ? I have been living abroad for 10 years now, I have lived in 4 countries. I...

More Green & Clean Lifestyle activities with GLIN

Now that spring is here and we spend more time outside and the GLIN bee (me) is getting busier (which I love) I would like to give more insight of a few happenings from the last weeks. End of March, I attended a lovely workshop organized by the inspiring green minded Shanon in Amsterdam, where she shared body basics recipes together with the lovely, enthusiast Adrienne who showed us how to make simple cream deo. What I really loved on the workshop is the energy that was created by the open minded attendees who were ready to take the green challenge and transform their everyday habits to a healthier one. What was also unique that these two green minded ladies were really open when it turned out that we share a common vision on Green & Clean lifestyle together. I was honored to add a bit more spice with the lovely essential oils of mine and give extra information for specific life situations, like being pregnant or having small kids when it comes to use natural body products. All in all, I am sure that we will keep contact with these conscious ladies and you will hear more about  our future collaboration in order to deliver more value to you. Keep an eye on the Green & Clean Lifestyle Stories in the future, we will share more updates there. Easter was a great time for us as a family and also for GLIN. I was blessed to be part of the Intouch Expats Easter Party where we were playing with natural soap-clay with the kids. I love to play...
The way scents influence us

The way scents influence us

The Olfactory Brand Memory – Extra sense of love, scented by GLIN Although human nose is less sensitive than that of the dogs, it still contains 5 million receptor cells . It means that smelling as one of our 5 senses has a primary role in forming our emotional life. We do not even recognize how often we follow our noses rather than our common sense. The cells in the nose have direct connection to our limbic system, which is one of the oldest parts of our brain. It controls our emotions, behavior, long-term memory. In the past, it was crucial to have a good sense of smelling – our survival depended on it – we have forgotten about how to process consciously the rich input it gets from the environment by now, though. The different scents and smells are still  not without meaning nowadays, they trigger instinctive reactions, subconsciously influences our emotions, and behavior. We have already experienced that scents have a great impact on choosing a partner, our mood, or staying alert, but you do not even presume what other walks of life are affected by them. Shopping Scents don’t only influence what we buy but how much we are willing to spend on it. In a casino in Las Vegas, there was an experiment carried out about it. The results showed that the clients of the casinos were willing to spend 50% more money at slot machines where nice scents were sprayed in the air. The researchers at the University of Chicago found that customers in a good-smelling shop thought that the same shoes were 10% more valued...

Focus of January: Organization at home

Focus of January: Organization at home

Hello Glinies, The focus of January was : Organisation. You will find the best 99 pins for home and family organisation here. You kick off with the decluttering question list to help you get started. Find here the best ideas on how to declutter, tons of tips & tricks per room, seasons and so on. You will also find some inspiring boards on how to get your family organized. My personal favorite is the family paperwork organizing system for bills, mails ,recipes, schoolwork. If you are already a trained decluttering person, you might check out the pin on how to speed up your declutter routine. Let`s share my routine for January: I went through the house and  checked which rooms need some serious downsizing. Guess , which one ? Yes, the laundry room is the first. We moved into this house two years ago and there are still boxes un-open. I stapled more boxes with clothes, shoes, papers etc in the last two years….all these together with the laundry. Of course, my other two focus areas are the children room and kitchen . I was proactive and this week, I have reorganized and cleaned the kitchen. However, I still need some buckets and small containers to give it a final touch. My goal for February is to downsize the toys in the playing room. Deep breath. It will take some time and effort. I will let you know, how it is coming along. If you got inspired here are 5 questions to help you declutter: 1. Is this item something I use regularly? 2. Am I saving this just...

Happy New Year !

Hello Glinies, Happy New Year ! Before the Holidays reached us, I felt, that I am well prepared for 2015. I made my plannings, calculations, preparations and bammm, look, it is already the second week of January and I am still trying to catch up. Hi-hi. I have just identified  new areas for improvement for myself: Start the new year literately on 2nd and do not wait till 12th of January. No mercy. Ok back to my planning. I did one single new year resolution (as I have already shared with you on facebook): Each month I will develop a new method to make our family life greener and I will build this knowledge in my workshops for you. So let`s see the first one. MINDFULNESS AT A GREEN HOME I have used different plannings for housekeeping over the last years. This month I will collect all the PRO TIPS and TRICKs how we can save our time & money and not to mention our energy in order to give ourselves a little break to relax. Once we master our household monster, we will be able to find time to relax. So, in the coming days, I will try to collect as much information as possible for you and me of course. We are all different, with different families and settings. So we would need different tips and schedules…let`s see how can I challenge myself and all the social media to find the perfect methods to handle our green household as a PRO.  P.S.: Did I mention that Valentine`s Day is just around the corner? Christmas preparation countdown without stress-week 6

Christmas preparation countdown without stress-week 6

Hello Glinies, We still have 5 weeks until Christmas. Yuppie. I am still focused thank to our goals worksheet. I have filled the worksheet in. Our 3 things we can do to help others:  1. I will cook a nice healthy and delicious dinner for people in need in Amsterdam with my Hungarian, mum`s friend on 17th of January. I feel blessed that I could volunteer together with my friends. We will cook yummy Hungarian style food on the day for 55 persons. The next step is to calculate the fresh ingredients of the dishes and organize the purchase of the ingredients. I have never cooked for such a big group. Luckily, we will cook with a team of 6-7 women together. I am sure, we will have fun and we can give a little warmness to these people`s life, even if it is a dinner. 2. We have a lovely old lady as neighbor at the end of our street. I decided we will visit her regularly to spice up her life alone with my 4 year- old son. It won`t be difficult. She loves children and my son loves to play. The best combination. I also like to listen to elderly people`s story because you can learn a lot from others who has more experience than you. 3. My son just started school and I volunteered to be a class parent. I think in this way I could also give a little to the school community and to the children. Now that I am typing all these actions that I have planned  I realize how much I...
GLIN Christmas Preparation without stress

GLIN Christmas Preparation without stress

Hello Glinies, This year I have decided to have a lovely, stress free Christmas. For us it is the biggest family holiday of the year. We have a little twist. We melt two cultures, two nationalities in our family. Also we share our Christmas between two families in two countries. Now you understand why I have decided to get a grip on our Christmas preparation this year. Let`s see how my plan looks like. First of all, for those days I want to concentrate on the core of our family. Having a 4 year old son means not only fun, play and love but also conscious parenting, showing him both culture, teaching him the good old habits, telling the typical fairy tales of this time of the year from both cultures. Stop. This could be a bit tricky. Did you know, that in different cultures we celebrate Christmas differently. Just to mention the first challenge: how to explain the difference between Sinterklaas, Mikulas, Father Christmas and the angles. Ok, back to the planning. I want to make sure that we will keep the focus on our family for Christmas. Also I find handy to make a planning for the gifts. This will involve some financial issues, so I want to make sure that I have a control on our Christmas Budget. And of course, there is no Christmas without delicious home made dishes. In order to take care of all these elements of the Christmas we need a good planning and some tools to manage our stress-free Christmas this year. So I came up with this 6-week-long program where...

Breast Check Challenge by SMART TINKER

Breast Check Challenge by SMART TINKER

Glinies, I have decided to join the “Breast Check Challenge ” by Smart Tinker.   Why? Because I am a woman, because I am a mother, because I am conscious about my body & life. Because I belong to the group of women who has the risk of 1 in 229 (age group 30-39) More you do not need. I take all the 3 challenges. Challenge #1: Every first day of the month, I will examine my body, using this app: Breast Cancer Detection App Challenge #2: I am scheduling the doctor visit right away for the next week, due to the fact that I missed the latest check up due to moving and getting lost in the dutch healthcare system. I am likely doing it now in my home country. After almost 10 years living abroad I still find more relaxed to do those important things in my mother tongue, not to mention the lack of trust in the Dutch healthcare system. ( If we stayed in Germany, I could not have this feeling I am sure. ) Challenge #3: With my pure, natural, cosmetics and cleaning products, now I am consciously searching contact with PINK RIBBON  in my area.  And you can read more about these actions here and on SMART TINKER too. Have a GLI:N week...
