DIY Children fun inspired by Montessori method

DIY Children fun inspired by Montessori method

Hello Glinies, This time I thought , I would share some fun for children with natural ingredients that we use on the GLIN Workshops. These activities are inspired by the Montessori method that we are following from the beginning with my son. Where should I search for these ideas in the easiest way? Of course, I have looked up in Pinterest. When I started checking the different possibilities, I realized , there are endless possibilities no matter how old your child is. They are fun and having enough variety for weeks. So I pinned an entire board to keep it for us and for you here. I have first hand experience now because we tried a lot of them. Because it was fruit time, we took the idea to see, examine the different parts of a fruit. We had mandarin first. My son got really excited when I started drawing with one hand and peeling the fruit with the other hand. I could not manage to draw something fancy. He has no patience yet. He may never have, just like me. However, he was eager to match the drawings with the different parts of the real fruit. We went a bit further in our little discovery than the original post. I quickly took an apple and did the same with it. Now he was able to compare the two different fruits from all aspects. (size, consistency, taste, scent, inside, outside, structure, etc) . I loved to see his face when I showed him how we can take the oil out of the mandarin peel.  Of course, at the end of the...
How to handle head lice naturally

How to handle head lice naturally

Hello Glinies, This is the first year at school for my son, and this weekend we got a short mail from the school , saying that they noticed the first lice in the school. I must say, I got mixed emotions. When I was a little girl, I had long, long hair…you know that superlong and I hated to comb or wash it of course. I heard from my mum: you should wash your hair otherwise the lice will move into it. So I did. Lucky enough, these little creatures did not find me. I have no idea why, was it because I listened to my mum or just I was lucky. However, when I opened the mail from the school this weekend, I didn’t feel so comfortable with the news. You know, as a green minded person, I double checked that tea-tree oil  or geranium, or eucalyptus or lavender can work fine against lice. I rushed to my oil box and immediately put some tea-tree oil in the neck of my son`s jacket. I have also combed his hair carefully. No sign of anything in. Thanks God. But still I was not so relaxed and I have started searching in Dutch site`s and asking people who live here longer than me: -What is it about that lice is an issue at all. I have heard already within our bigger family that it is an issue from time to time. Is it because of the weather or what? I figured out that there is a significant difference about how they handle the children who got infected. They are allowed...

GLI:N Dinner Tip: White bean mash with fresh parsley and lemon oil (doTERRA)

GLI:N Dinner Tip: White bean mash with fresh parsley and lemon oil (doTERRA)

Hello Glinies,    As you know, not long ago, I discovered the doTERRA oils and even the wonderful world of cooking with essential oils. From that on, I am experimenting with our dinner dishes. I must say with success. My boys love these dishes even without knowing that I am flavouring them with essential oils. The good thing that I love about cooking with them, that they are so pure, you get just the amazing extra fine flavour and it doesn`t taste oily or so. Of course you only need a drop or two, thanks for the pureness of these products.   Here is my last creation. White bean mash with fresh parsley and lemon oil Ingredients: 200gram of white beans ( or any other that you like) 1 avocado 1 tiny chunk of garlic ( you can use more for a stronger taste of course) 1 handful of fresh parsley 1 handful of fresh basil 3-4 leaves of citrone mellise  1 teaspoon of apple cider  a pinch of sea salt 1-2 drops of doTERRA lemon oil 100ml of olive oil Process: 1. Soak the beans in water for the night  2. Cook the beans till soft and let them cool 3. Add the other ingredients 4. Blend them together. ( Based on your taste you can add more oil.) Enjoy My son ate as a side dish with grilled fish , I love it as a dipper with a bit of more oil with. This is my version. Do you want to try it?   I would love to hear your experience or other recipes with essential oils?...

Is it good for our health?  There are certain answers that we can give. But it feels already overwhelming to go entirely green at home.  So let me give you advice little by little, a piece of alteration at a time.  Start with your kitchen.  You do not need to throw away your dishwasher even.  Just be conscious about what you put in, how and when. Midweek tips: Hard ingredients in the vegan soap batch

Midweek tips: Hard ingredients in the vegan soap batch

This time I would like to help you with an overview about the extra ingredients you can use in your own natural soap recipe. We all know by now, that first you will make your own basic vegan soap mixture, using hard oils, soft oils and lye solution. You will mix it carefully till the” trace” phase. At that point , you can add your chosen essential oil and extra, hard ingredients. So let`s talk about what these “hard” ingredients could be. cacao powdercoffee powderoat mealsaltclay( red, white, green)milk powder ( goat)calamine powderginger powdercardamom powderpoppy seedsdried flowers (rose, lavender, chamomile, etc )chilli powder How to use these ingredients? Make sure that you will match the essential oils with these hard ingredients. These will add colours (cacao, chilli, calamine, clay, etc) to your soap, but also will effect your skin and body. As a golden rule, make sure that you will not add more than 1 tablespoon of hard ingredients to your soap batch (approx. 1000gram). Never more. If you split your 1000gram soap batch, keep in mind that you need to split this 1 tablespoon of hard ingredients as well. Do not exceed the 1 tablespoon of hard ingredients. Let`s talk about the effects of the hard ingredients on your skin and body. energizers: coffee, ginger, chilli, sagerelaxing: chamomilepenetrate: lavenderrevitalize: pepperminthydrates: roserefresh: rosemarysrub: coffee, oat meal, poppy seeds, saltsoften: milkanti itching agent: calamine Attention point: Please if you are planning to use SALT, check your recipe.
